Each year, PEASS students stage role play activities in Arabic based on news items from around the world in a simulated TV program. Students play a specific role (journalist, civil society representative, female politician, etc) and argue their case on the issue under discussion, facing classmates who argue their case from a different position. Role play allows students to put across specific arguments, and become familiar with Arabic language structure and lexicon used in interaction.
Role play situations shown here were performed by students three months into the program. All students featured had started the program at Beginner or Intermediate level in Arabic.
Watch below the role play activities performed by the 2016-2017 and the 2015-2016 cohorts.
